Wake up, shower, make breakfast, eat, and finally say goodbye to your spouse before leaving for work; but, what if your morning didnāt end with goodbye? What if instead it was a āsee you laterā? Thatās the case for three hardworking couples who work at Louisville Public Schools. These couples are the Casarts, the Cravens, and the Wilhelms.
The most recent addition to this group is the Cravens. Mr. Craven is a high school math teacher and also dabbles in middle school technology. Mrs. Craven is a kindergarten teacher. Mr. Craven student taught at Louisville in the spring of 2025; the following school year he got a job as a new high school math teacher.
Craven said, āI chose Louisville because I loved my student teaching that I did here. So I got to student teach with Mr. York for a semester, and Mr. York was awesome.ā
In the summer of 2026, his wife joined the school on the elementary side. He and his wife are high school sweethearts who also happened to attend the same college before working at the same school.
Mr. Craven has greatly enjoyed his time at Louisville and later states that he doesnāt see himself leaving soon. Mr. Craven said, āI just got to meet all the kids and the staff, and it just kind of felt like home from the beginning. And I always liked the idea of going to a smaller size school like this, and it kind of just felt like it fit perfectly. It was close to where my parents lived. It was still close to where my wife was at the time in college, and so that's a few reasons why I chose to come here.ā
The Cravens work on opposite sides of the building and hence donāt get to see each other often; however, they do eat lunch with each other occasionally.
Unlike the Cravens, the Wilhelms interact differently. Mr. Wilhelm is a paraprofessional and Mrs. Wilhelm is a 1st grade teacher.
Mr. Wilhelm said, āTo be honest, other than having people know that I am the guy lucky enough to be married to her, working in the same building is somewhat anticlimactic. I don't get to see her all day, and I just get reminded by all the elementary kids who see me in the hall and say āYou're Mrs. Wilhelm's husband, aren't you?ā Sometimes I tell them that she is my evil sister!ā
Mr. Wilhelm started working at the school first at the start of the 2023-24 school year and Mrs. Wilhelm started teaching at Louisville the following year. Mr. Wilhelm said, āI'm guessing she heard that this is where all the good looking guys were working.ā
The couple finds many benefits from their careers and lives at Louisville. They share a common theme of finding positivity anywhere they go.
Mrs. Wilhelm said, āComing to work in Louisville was a huge positive change for us. Since, we are now working where we live- our lives feel peaceful and purposeful. We are serving a community we love and are finally able to have the balance we longed for. I feel so blessed.ā
Louisvilleās third couple, the Casarts, joined the school a couple of years apart. Mrs. Casart is the Director of Learning, and Mr. Casart is a high school science teacher. Mrs. Casart at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. Her husband, Mr. Casart, came to Louisville for the start of the 2025-2026. He used to be a band director and switched over to become a science teacher.
Mr. Casart retired from being a director and tried some other jobs. He started substitute teaching in the spring of 2025.
Mr. Casart said, āI realized at that time I really enjoyed being back in the classroom but not teaching music and band anymore. But I enjoyed teaching other classes. So when the opportunity came to teach science, I was thrilled.ā
Mrs. Casart said, āConversations in the evenings are different now because it used to be Chris would tell me all about who could hit a high C on the clarinet that day, and I don't have to hear those stories anymoreā¦I don't get to hear those stories anymore.ā
These two interact and see each other quite frequently throughout the day. Mr. Casart will stop by Mrs. Casartās office and hang around for a little chat at least once a day.
All of these couples love Louisville and help make the school a better learning environment for the kids they look over daily.
