Quiz bowl, a competitive trivia game, is growing at Louisville High School. Many students across many grades have decided to join in on the fun. This year, 11 kids were on the quiz bowl team, which is more than they have had in the past.
Preparing for meets takes time and effort, with the season starting in early November and not ending until around March. These kids stay dedicated even with a long season overlapping other school activities. They prepare by meeting weekly with their coach, Ms. Little, has practice questions prepared for them.
Practice times could be during Pride Time or even during the students’ lunch period.
Quiz bowl had a total of 8 meets this year, and at their final competition, they ended up placing 2nd out of 31 teams.
Ms. Little said, “They do so well by using everyone's strengths to their advantage.”
This means that if the subject is over history, they find the person best at that subject to help them answer the question. This strategy has worked out very well for them, helping them get far in their competitions.
This year, they added a little twist for their meets. Before the competition, they would plan out a theme to wear or bring! For example, for one of the competitions, the team had a Hawaiian theme and brought an umbrella to put in the middle of the table to add something fun.
Mrs. Little said, “We definitely made our presence known.”
