Family. As the night comes to an end the pride joins into a big huddle as a family to sing a song. They might not be all friends but for a couple minutes they are a family.

Prom Night is more than just the expensive dresses and suits. For many students, it's a night they’ve imagined for years, a night filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable memories. The moment the date is announced, excitement  begins to build as everyone starts planning outfits, coordinating with their dates or groups, and counting down the days until the dance.

Leading up to the dance Senior, Drezik Ahlers said, “ I can't wait to hang out with my buddies and do all of the fun activities prom and post prom have to offer. I can't wait to make new memories with all of them and look back years down the road and have a good laugh at them. What makes this better is that I have a date to dance with on the dance floor!”

As prom gets closer, the preparation becomes just as important as the event itself.  From girls picking out their dresses and boys learning to tie a tie from a YouTube or TikTok reels to the girls scheduling hair and makeup appointments, the process can be both stressful and exciting. Many students like Lilly Bax took weeks to get the right dress.

Lilly Bax said “ It took me 7ish hours to find my dress. The first store I went to was Von Mar and I think I tried on 45 different dresses and I didn’t like any of them. The second store I went to was Dillards. And I didn’t find any dresses there I liked. But in the end it was all worth it because I found the perfect dress.”

There's a sense of anticipation in the air, as each detail, big or small, helps create the perfect night. For some, it's about making a statement, for others it's about feeling confident and comfortable.

On the night of prom, everything comes together. Friends gather for photos, capturing the moment they look back on for years to come, whether it's walking under the arch or dancing on the dance floor with the fairy lights around them.

Senior Addi Bevins said, “walking into prom was very over stimulating. But when I started dancing, I was glad my heels were off. And the decorations were really good. I liked the fairy lights the best.

Beyond the dresses and decorations, prom is really about the people. It's a chance to celebrate friendships, reflect on memories, and enjoy the time together before life moves forward. As the night comes to an end, students leave with more than just pictures. They leave with stories, connections, and moments in time they’ll never forget.
