Generations Of Quilts
By: Matilda Quam
A tradition that has been around for generations. Each year the 4th grade students at louisville look forward to making the 4th grade quilts. These quilts represent them and what they are interested in.
These quilts get made in the fall and it is not a super easy and quick process. The students get to pick out a piece of fabric and decorate it with pictures of themselves and the hobbies they enjoy. This whole process takes a month or so, just to get a square made. A mom or a grandma from the 4th grade class will quilt everyone's piece together.
As the kids make these, they do not get thrown away or just taken home. These quilts get hung up in an elementary hallway so everyone can go look at them whenever they want.
Ayla Vavra, a fourth grade student said, “Yeah, it's fun to do so everyone knows about the kids in Louisville."
When the seniors had made the quilts they always knew they would be hanging up by the high school office to remember them. Most seniors go look at them whenever they want a good laugh or just want to remember with their friends.
Livee Zweep said,“It will probably make them sad that they are not gonna be here anymore.”
This is a tradition that will not come to an end soon. 4th graders look forward to doing this all of elementary school and enjoy having this to look back on.
