There are many traditions for the senior class at Louisville High School. The main reason is that it is simply tradition, celebrating their last year of high school and making memories.
Some of the many traditions that they participate in are the senior jeans. The senior jeans tradition is very special because it is mainly for the girls, so they can have their own little memory. They buy jeans and paint them the school colors, put the year, and customize them to represent their senior year.
Addison Bevins explains, “It was kinda just something that was just an idea that had been shown through social media in a sense. It took a long time to do, but in the end it was worth it.”
Then there is Senior Sunrise and Sunset. Sunrise is at the start of the year, while sunset is towards the end of the year. The sunrise and sunset are usually enjoyed at the Louisville baseball fields. This is when the whole senior class gathers together to watch the sunrise and sunset. Students usually provide food, games, and fun! Teghan Swenson said, “I feel like I've just seen it on social media and stuff. It's pretty common for seniors to do. And then, for us, somebody had brought it up within the girls.”
Other traditions include senior skip day. Some past classes have gone bowling, gone to the zoo, or even gone to Top Golf.
Next, there is the tradition of senior pranks. For this tradition, the whole senior class gets together and plans a prank to pull off on the school, whether it’s on one of the principals or the whole school in general.
Last, but certainly not least, is a very popular one: Senior Assassin. This one is very popular for a good reason. Senior Assassin is when all of the seniors try and eliminate each other in a big water gun fight, organized through an app. (This is not necessary to play the game, but it sure helps!)
On the app, you put all of your classmates, and it will give each person someone to eliminate using the water guns. There are ways to protect yourself from getting out. You can wear goggles or any type of swimming gear. There's a catch, though. You don't know who has you, and nobody besides you will know who you have to eliminate. This game is played at the end of the school year as one last memory in high school.
There are hundreds of traditions that all different schools do, but at Louisville High School, we take it to the next level.
