SOPHOMORE Keegan witte dribbles the ball, getting ready to score for the student and teacher team

During Louisville’s homecoming week one of the many dress up themes was cops versus robbers. Numerous students participated in this dress up day, but something even more exciting was the cops versus students and teachers basketball game.

This event took place during high school Pride Time, but many elementary grades came to watch as well. Like a typical basketball game, it started out with the jump off between Noelle Larson and one of the cops. He ended up getting the ball and the game was off.

As they played Mr. Walker began strolling around the gym, commentating and interviewing various students. Of course there had to be referees, but senior Dayton Carlson put a twist on this role, handcuffing the cops when they fouled.

Although these teams were put together just minutes before the game, both sides played hard and worked together surprisingly well. School spirit was at an all time high bringing everyone together. Kids even started forming different chants and cheers for their favorite teachers or classmates.

“It was very interesting to watch the game because I don't go to many of the basketball games and it was almost like I was at one,” says freshman Colton Hanson.

The game ended, the students and teachers in the lead with a 10 point victory.

Noelle Larson said, “Even though this wasn't a serious basketball game, it was almost like a preview of the season to come.”

Overall the basketball game was a success for the students and teachers and a great way to get everyone involved in school spirit, with the possibility of more activities like this to come.
